WHY IS NUTRITIONAL GUIDANCE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF OUR TREATMENT PROTOCOL?

Foods nourish us. Foods keep us alive, developing and in good health. Thus recognising and choosing foods that are of the highest quality is critical to fostering our vitality and realising our life goals.


Everyday we ingest food and liquids that contain substances that either provide, or don’t provide, the essential material for healthy growth and wellbeing.  Not all food and drink support good health; some hinder it, while others remain neutral. Also, people can respond differently to the same food depending on their individual make-up and health condition.


There is an abundance of evidence showing that people with healthy eating patterns feel mentally brighter and more physically vibrant, enhance their fertility and pregnancy outcomes, lower their risk for chronic health issues and live stronger and longer. This is no surprise to practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine, like James, who consider food (which includes food-grade Chinese herbs) powerful medicine. In fact nutrition was, originally, the first therapy used in Chinese Medicine to restore a patient’s healthy balance and prevent dis-ease.


In James’ experience, simple changes in food choices and eating patterns, combined with acupuncture and herbs, can significantly reduce a patient’s symptoms of dis-ease, enhance wellbeing and strengthen reproductive health.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN OUR NUTRITIONAL GUIDANCE?

At your initial consultation, James will ask you about your health goals, food choices, eating patterns and lifestyle habits. He then shares how certain foods and beverages may be contributing to your condition and preventing wellbeing, and recommends more nourishing replacements. He also strategises with you on how you can successfully incorporate his recommendations into your daily routine. It’s a team effort!


James works with you to ensure you are comfortable and successful in reaching your health goals. The nutritional changes he may suggest are more about moderation, and removing only those foods that are significantly hindering your health. So, he’s not removing all the fun!

James often says to his patients: 

“Make the changes, give it a chance and see how you feel.  If you don’t feel an improvement,

you can always return to your habit.”

WHAT NUTRITIONAL CHANGES CAN I MAKE RIGHT NOW TO ENHANCE MY HEALTH AND MY FERTILITY?

James’ top five recommendations:

  1. Moderate or slowly remove coffee and alcohol. Both these substances exacerbate inflammatory responses and adrenal imbalance.

  2. Eat regularly to stabilise your blood sugar. James especially recommends eating a simple and nutritious breakfast, like scrambled eggs with vegetables. Try not to miss meals.

  3. Reduce or slowly remove your processed sugar intake, such as in ice cream, cakes, chocolate, soda and energy drinks.

  4. Eat some protein daily, like meat (organic or hormone free is best), fresh fish, free range eggs or beans and legumes.

  5. Enjoy your food! Sit down, unplug and take your time over your meals. Try not to eat quickly, “on the go” or at your desk. Make eating a restful and nourishing pleasure.
